We start our adventure in Purnululu National Park early in the morning, excited to explore more than just the famous Bungle Bungles.

After a scenic drive into the park, we stop by the Visitor Centre to grab a map and chat with the staff.

From there, we head towards the northern side of the park to visit Echidna Chasm, a spectacular narrow gorge that glows with fiery reds and oranges when the sun hits it just right. We make sure to arrive early to beat the crowds and enjoy the chasm's vibrant colors without interruption.

Next, we drive to Osmand Lookout, where we enjoy a peaceful picnic with stunning views of the rugged Osmand Range. Afterward, we embark on a 5km walk to Mini Palms Gorge, where the lush Livistona Palms create a tropical oasis amidst the desert-like landscape. The vibrant greens of the palms against the orange backdrop are mesmerizing.

After a fulfilling day of exploring, we drive towards the southern end of the park and set up camp at Walardi Campground. Alternatively, we can check into the comfortable Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge or APT Bungle Bungle Wilderness Camp for a more relaxed experience.

As the evening draws near, we head to Piccaninny Creek for a sunset that promises to be unforgettable. We take a short 2.8km walk to the lookout, where the last rays of sunlight paint the Bungle Bungles in breathtaking hues of gold and pink. Don't forget your camera for this magical moment!

Optional Evening Activity: Stargazing

If you're up for it, we recommend stopping at Piccaninny Creek to gaze at the stars. The view of the Bungles under a star-filled sky is perfect for astrophotography, with the striped domes standing out against the night.

Day Two: Exploring More Wonders

On our second day, we rise early to catch the first light at Cathedral Gorge, a stunning natural amphitheater made of red rock. We arrive just after sunrise to witness the sun's rays illuminating the gorge in warm tones, making it feel almost like we're in a dream. After taking in the scenery, we walk along Piccaninny Creek, enjoying the tranquility of the open space and the striking limestone domes.

By mid-morning, we return to Walardi Campground for a well-deserved break, keeping an eye out for the local wildlife, including over 140 bird species and 81 types of reptiles. After some relaxation, we prepare for our final adventure of the day: Kungkalanayi Lookout. This spot offers spectacular views of the Bungle Bungles' western face at sunset. We recommend arriving a bit earlier to secure a good spot, as this lookout is popular, especially among tour groups.

Optional Evening Activity: More Stargazing

If you loved the stargazing at Piccaninny Creek, we suggest heading to Cathedral Gorge or Osmand Lookout for another night under the stars. The scenery here is just as enchanting, with the Bungles framed by the twinkling night sky.

With two days filled with natural beauty and unforgettable experiences, we conclude our adventure in Purnululu National Park, knowing we've witnessed some of the most stunning landscapes in Australia!
