Getting There and Parking

Located in Banff National Park, Alberta, the lake is about a 2-hour drive from Calgary, with the closest parking option being Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Parking Lot. From there, it's just a short, smooth walk to the lake's edge.

Park Pass: Remember, you'll need a valid Parks Canada pass to enter Banff National Park. This can be purchased online in advance or at the park entrance.

The Icefields Parkway, which starts near Lake Louise, is one of the most scenic drives in the world. It stretches approximately 232 kilometers (144 miles) to Jasper in Jasper National Park and many viewpoints along the way offer panoramic views of glaciers, mountains, and valleys. For easy photo opportunities along the road, check out Bow Lake, the lower viewpoint at Peyto Lake, and Athabasca Falls.
